2012 is the Centennial year for North Kansas City. Businesses have ALWAYS been an important component of North Kansas City. If your business has been in North Kansas City more than 30 years and is still in operation, we would like to give you the opportunity to be featured in North Kansas City’s Centennial celebration.
Some of the ways to be involved are:

Inclusion of information about the history of your business in a hard cover Centennial year coffee table book.

Free exhibition at the January 26, 2012 North Kansas City Business Council Membership Luncheon. This luncheon will include both member and non-member businesses and will be totally focused on the 2012 Centennial. This luncheon will be the kickoff event for the Centennial.

Sponsorship recognition with specific Centennial activities.

The Monthly Membership Luncheon has been designated to be the "kickoff" event for the North Kansas City Centennial. The luncheon program will feature the premiere showing of the Centennial video produced by North Kansas City-based Times Two Creative and sponsored by Corn Products NKC/National Starch and CCP Composites as well as a program outlining all the activities planned for the Centennial which will be celebrated all year long. North Kansas City has a unique history tied to the businesses which have been central to the vitality of North Kansas City since its beginning in 1912.
Exhibits with photographs, products, and other memorabilia by "historic" North Kansas City businesses will be on display before and after the luncheon in the lobby of Finnigan's Banquet Venue from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. If you have a historic North Kansas City business (in business in North Kansas City since 1982 or before and still in business in North Kansas City) and you would like to set up an exhibit, please let us know. There is no fee associated with setting up an exhibit.
As with any Monthly Membership Luncheon, reservations are required. We are encouraging both members and non-members to attend this special event. The cost of North Kansas City Business Council Monthly Membership Luncheon, effective January 1, 2012 has been increased to $20 per person. This $20 rate will apply to anyone who attends the January Luncheon, so non-members be sure to take advantage of this special price! A NKC tradition since 1995, the avenues of Armour & Swift will come alive with holiday magic as they are lined with a sparkling assortment of custom decorated, one-of-a-kind Christmas trees. Trees will be in place November 14, 2011, businesses will be able to decorate their trees that Tue-Fri, and judging will occur on the afternoon of the 18th.

As part of an ongoing crime reduction effort in our community, the North Kansas City Police Department is pleased to announce the introduction of Crime Free Business. North Kansas City is currently one of 14 cities across the nation participating in the study which is intended to suggest the best practices to reduce the incidence of robberies and workplace violence for businesses at risk. Businesses who attend this session will complete the first of three steps required to be certified as Crime Free. The program is provided free of charge by the North Kansas City Police Department.

Councilmember Delores Curry passed away April 6, 2010
Councilmember Curry served the City of North Kansas City as Councilmember from November 2006 until the present time and was a member of the North Kansas City Planning Commission from 2002-2006. Councilmember Curry did not file for candidacy for re-election in the April 6, 2010 election.
Judi's Bakery - Channel 41 live broadcast
Thursday from 5am to 7am, Channel 41 is doing live broadcasts from our bakery at 13th & Burlington during the morning news. We open at 6AM so if any members can come by that early, I'd sure appreciate it!
NB Interstate 29/35 Loop Ramp to WB Armour Road Closing
NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The loop ramp from northbound Interstate 29/35 to westbound Armour
Road will close Monday, March 15, 2010. This ramp will be removed, and will be replaced in December
2010 by a new ramp that allows more vehicles to access eastbound or westbound Armour Road from
Interstate 29/35. The marked detour route will be Front Street to Chouteau Avenue to MO-210/Armour
Road.
This ramp reconstruction will be part of the new Armour Road interchange, scheduled to be complete by
the end of 2010. This new interchange will feature longer, wider ramps to accommodate more vehicles,
and will operate more efficiently than the previous cloverleaf design.
The peak of construction for the kcICON Project will be this year, impacting motorists who travel the
corridor. All construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change. Updated lane closure

The Big Event - A Taste for the Holidays

Come join us for "The Big Event-A Taste for the Holidays" on December 3, 2009 at Finnigan's Hall. This will be the 14th Annual Holiday Reception and Auction, and it's sure to be one of the best! We will be having food tastings from some of our North Kansas City restaurants and one of the best silent and live auctions around!
The event will be from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and will include a cash bar. Tickets are $25 per person or $100 for a group of 5. Burlington Northtown Community Credit Union is having an OPEN HOUSE this Friday, September 25, 2009 at their new location at 1002 Swift Avenue, North Kansas City, MO. 4:30pm is the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony.
