eNewsletter August 24, 2011
Dear North Kansas City Business Council Members,
This has been a busy month for the Business Council between the First Friday Coffee hosted by North Kansas City Hospital Occupational and Rehabilitative Services, the Business After Hours at Pat’s Pub (if you missed it then you missed out on their delicious taco bar!), and the well-received Business Focus Forum on healthcare law held yesterday at Bridge View Hall and co-sponsored by Frazier DeCamp Financial.
However, August is not over for us yet! Tomorrow is the monthly luncheon featuring speakers from The McCrummen Immigration Law Group, and next Tuesday is our first annual NKC Triple Play! We are thrilled to have 34 teams (136 individuals!) from NKC businesses participating in the event.
Thank you to all of you for your support and help in making all of these events successful whether you entered a team, sponsored, or attended an event. We truly could not do all that we do without the support of our members!
Be sure to read below for more details on Business Council Events and Information as well as information Straight From . . . our Members.
Remember, feel free to send me news about what is going on with your business, and I will include it in my next e-newsletter!
Thank you!
Lindsay

Business After Hours *Yes, on a Monday!
*MONDAY, September 12, 2011, 4:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Hosted by: Bridge View Hall & Thomas J. Hershewe, CPA
This is a Business After Hours that you will want to invite a friend to! (And by “friend” we mean “representative at a NKC business who is not a Business Council member, but might be interested in joining”) To coincide with the Membership Drive that Rich and a task force made up of members have been busily working on for the fall, this After Hours will serve as a “Membership Rush Party.” We are inviting anyone who is interested in learning why a membership with the Business Council is a worthwhile investment for their NKC business. No formal presentations are planned – just a short spiel to tell about what we do and benefits of joining. Sam Scarfino and Tom Hershewe are hosting this event and will be providing food, wine, beer, and a band! This is a great way to introduce a guest to one of our events and let them experience firsthand why they should join!

As part of an ongoing crime reduction effort in our community, the North Kansas City Police Department is pleased to announce the introduction of Crime Free Business. North Kansas City is currently one of 14 cities across the nation participating in the study which is intended to suggest the best practices to reduce the incidence of robberies and workplace violence for businesses at risk.
A Crime Free Business is one that has met the minimum standards specified by the program to reduce the opportunity and motivation for committing crime. The business community’s participation will aid in efforts to assess and develop crime prevention measures that really work. The belief is that the training and consultation offered will increase safety and profitability, while reducing liability and vulnerability to criminal acts. A “Crime Free” environment can increase your bottom line while increasing customer volume.
The program is provided free of charge by the North Kansas City Police Department. Companies that adopt the Crime Free Business program will be certified by the COPPS Unit as Crime Free Business members, being authorized to display their internationally recognized Crime Free status publicly.
