eNewsletter May 4, 2011
Hello again, NKCBC Members!
My husband Erik and I do not have cable TV, we only get two real channels on our digital converter box (yes, our TV still has "bunny ears"!), and thus we rarely watch the news. Luckily, Erik is a CNN.com fan and does a good job of keeping me informed of what is going on in the world. Also, as many of you know, we live in Cameron, so I drive A LOT and log a ton of radio-listening hours! As you all know, the recent national and world news has been quite eventful with everything from tragedies to triumphs to grand affairs. But let’s think locally for a moment. What is going on here in North Kansas City? In your business? If you have some news to share, send it my way and I may be able to include it in my next E-Newsletter!
Below you will find upcoming Business Council Events and Information and information Straight From . . . our Members.
Have a GREAT week!

Future Business Topics Breakfast Forums
We are planning to implement a series of business topic forums – probably as a breakfast program with time for Q&A, or possibly as a "lunch and learn". The first topic we plan to include is "Healthcare Law: What it means for you" featuring an expert on this topic who has made similar presentations before and is dedicated to keeping current with the direction of healthcare legislation.
What other topics are of interest to you? Please let us know which of the following appeals to you the most or if there are other topics you would like to suggest that would be helpful for you and your business.
- Social networking for businesses
- Worker safety, wellness programs and occupational therapy
- Low cost/high yield guerilla marketing
- Others? Please let us know your ideas.

The Community Emergency Response Team (NKC CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. Below is a link to a recent E-Newsletter from NKC CERT that contains updates on their training sessions, drills, and meetings.
