From . . . 3rd Generation Businesses
Next year – 2012 – is the Centennial year for North Kansas City! The business community has been a major part of the city since its beginning in 1912 as one of the first planned communities in the United States. Please let us know if your business is a 2nd or 3rd generation business in North Kansas City. We would like to share your story!
Mead O’Brien
Ron Morrison, President, represents the 3rd generation of what is now called Mead O'Brien. The company his grandfather purchased in 1961 was a branch office of the Moorlane Company that moved from 3rd & Baltimore to North Kansas City 1946. Mead O'Brien specializes in valves and valve automation, steam products and systems, process instruments, controls engineering, and field service.
North Kansas City Beverage Co.
In 1955 Vice President Chad Borland’s grandfather, Russell Borland, acquired the distributor that is now North Kansas City Beverage Co. and continued to manage the company with his wife, Margaret. The Borland family is still highly involved in the business with three of Margaret’s children working for the company: Curt Borland, President, Jayne Johnson, Corporate Secretary, and Lars Langhus, Executive VP. The company specializes in beer and non-alcoholic beverage distribution.
